Apricot kernel oil - the gentle oil with the delicate scent of marzipan

In the traditional medicine of Eastern countries such as China and India, apricot kernel oil is widely used for its versatile abilities to treat various problems such as ulcers, dry skin and even dandruff. However, among the most popular uses is the treatment of skin diseases thanks to its strong nourishing properties.

No wonder apricot kernels were so valuable in ancient timesthat they were considereda means of payment

Apricot kernel oil is a wonderful carrier or base oil. It has numerous benefits for the skin and complements any care routine with that certain something. High quality organic apricot kernel oil has a delicate and slightly sweet marzipan scent. It is a very compatible oil, absorbs quickly and is suitable for all skin types. Even for sensitive baby skin, it is an excellent care oil.

Origin of Apricot

Looking back and judging by the earliest records in places in ancient China, apricot kernels have been used for medicinal purposes since about the first century BC and have been harvested and extracted in temperate parts of the Asian continent for more than 4000 years. The Romans spread it to the West and today it is grown in the United States, France, South Africa, New Zealand and other countries.

First of all, it helps to better understand this small fruit: It is a fruit with abundant pulp from a relatively low tree belonging to the rose family, ripens yellow or yellowish red and, like the peach or plum, is a fruit with a stone in the center.

Apricots are cold-resistant and have a long winter dormancy, so their flowering time is late. Curiously, their name in English (apricot) and French (d'abricot) comes from Spanish (albaricoque), referring to their flowering in summer.

Apricot kernel oil is a vegetable oil obtained by cold pressing the apricot kernels. It is known for its impressive nutritional content.

Skin types

Before starting any skin care routine, it is important to question your skin type to avoid mistakes that can affect skin health and to choose the most appropriate skin care routine. For this reason, here's a quick guide on how you can identify it:

Skin type

Dry skin

  1. Lipid and hydration deficiency
  2. Dry skin feeling
  3. Fine skin texture and tendency to wrinkles and fine lines
  4. Mostly no enlarged pores
  5. Redness and flaking
  6. Sensitive to temperature changes

Oily skin

  1. Shiny appearance due to increased sebum production
  2. Enlarged pores
  3. Frequently accompanied by pimples, blackheads or acne
  4. Thicker skin texture
  5. Fewer wrinkles

Mixed skin

  1. Oily skin around the T-zone and dry skin on the cheeks
  2. Tending to blemishes but also often dry skin feeling
  3. The skin is often sensitive to external environmental influences

However, there is also particularly sensitive skin, commonly referred to as sensitive, intolerant and reactive skin. This refers to a condition of hyperreactivity of the skin that leads to intolerance to contact with various substances and environmental factors, which can have a significant impact on the quality of life.

The organic apricot kernel oil is suitable for all skin types. This gentle care oil is also very well tolerated by sensitive skin, which makes it a wonderful companion for any skin care routine.

Why use apricot kernel oil?

  • Remove makeup: Moisten a cotton pad with organic apricot kernel oil and gently rub the eyes, face and lips with it to avoid irritation and redness caused by intense friction. This will gently remove all superficial traces of makeup, including waterproof makeup. For better results, you can remove the excess oil with a mild cleanser with emulsifying properties. A cleansing balm with gentle emulsifiers is very suitable to completely remove residues of the oil and the dissolved makeup.
  • As a massage oil: Take care of your skin on the body by applying a small amount on cleansed skin and gently massage. Or massage your facial skin, taking advantage of the oil's lubricating properties. A gentle massage helps stimulate the natural exfoliation of the skin, relax the facial muscles and promote lymphatic drainage.
  • For baby care:Thanks to its hypoallergenic properties, it is ideal for keeping the baby's skin healthy and supple, and it also relaxes the baby before bedtime or bath.
  • For extremely damaged hair:With apricot kernel oil, you can moisturize your hair by simply applying it to the scalp, much like a hair mask, and leaving it on for 15 minutes. After that, the hair has absorbed enough nutrients..

Test compatibility

Organic apricot kernel oil occupies a rather advantageous position among vegetable oils, as it is very compatible. However, this does not mean that it goes unnoticed by allergies. As a precaution, it is advisable to test the product on an inconspicuous area of skin (for example, on the forearm) and wait a while to see if there is an allergic reaction before you fully apply it and spread it on large areas of skin or face. If you are allergic to nuts you can also ask your doctor for advice.

The importance of skin care

The skin is the largest organ of the body whose functions include protection, temperature regulation, water and electrolyte balance. It is involved in the synthesis of vitamins and is the first to receive a lot of external stimuli. The latter is particularly important because it can be considered a particularly vulnerable organ due to its direct contact with the external environment.

The skin barrier has its own regeneration cycle, which extends from the deepest layers to the top layer of skin (epidermis), replacing older cells. The skin takes about 28 days to regenerate. However, this rate slows down with age and is also affected by other factors such as sun exposure, stress, insomnia and poor diet.

The skin today plays a fundamental role in homeostasis and aesthetic sensation. Having a youthful and healthy skin can be pleasing to everyone's mind and body, thus contributing faithfully to mental and physical health.

Lipid Glory Sunset

Drinking enough for healthy skin

This thought is true. Therefore, it is well known that drinking water is essential for the proper functioning and balance of the body. Especially the skin should always be hydrated.

In order to protect the skin, hydration and nutrients are important. Cosmetic products are a way to maintain health and natural beauty by supporting the functioning of the skin, preventing aging or delaying the aging process.

A skin that lacks moisture loses its natural defenses and the ability of cells to regenerate decreases, resulting in reduced elasticity and increased wrinkles.
